Ministry Assistant - Part Time

Bethany Baptist Church, Wendell, NC  seeks a Part Time Ministry Assistant.

MINISTRY ASSISTANT Part Time: 16 hours per week (Tuesday – Friday from 9-1pm*) *Hours are flexible and can be reworked (to include some hours being worked remotely) Pay: $14-15/hour (commensurate with experience)

Reports to:  Senior Pastor

Position Description: This position is an integral part of our ministry team and will work to provide support for the Senior Pastor and pastoral staff by managing records, helping with church communication through web and mass media communication, and serving our church family by providing timely information regarding meetings, events, and ministry opportunities. Areas of Responsibility: COMMUNICATION / DESIGN ● Coordinate, produce and/or design communication content, materials, weekly bulletins, announcements, and other digital or printed materials as needed. ● Manage and coordinate mass communication via email and texting. ● Maintain the church’s website and look for ways to keep it innovative. ● Maintain an online calendar reservation system for the Family Life Center, Conference Center, Sanctuary and Church Van. RECORDS / DATABASE ● Maintain membership database: updating membership activity to include new members, transfers, births/deaths, baptisms, etc.; provide reports to pastor. ● Work with ministry leaders to manage weekly attendance. ● Submit reports to the Finance Team regarding online giving weekly. FRONT OFFICE / MISCELLANEOUS ● Manage front office. These duties include answering phone calls, directing walk-in visitors, checking the church email/mail, etc. ● Oversee the office budget for ordering office supplies. ● Other tasks as assigned by the Senior Pastor.

Job Requirements: • Actively growing follower of Christ • Cannot be a member of Bethany Baptist Church • Must be able to work autonomously: be a self-starter, able to set goals and deadlines, work efficiently, be willing to learn and research new tools for office/ministry management, etc. • Organized / Detail Oriented • 2 years of experience in a similar position • Proficient in: o Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint • Experience with: o Church Database Software (we use Breeze) o Google Office Apps (G-Suite, Drive, calendar, etc.) o Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator (or other graphics software/apps) o Website design and management (or able to learn) o Branding (basic understanding) • Creative eye and mind for communicating ideas (i.e. artwork for events, social media, promotional designs, etc.) • Experience designing and ordering printed promotional materials (banners, posters, signage, business cards, invite cards, etc.) • Strong Communication Skills – written and verbal • Team player • Coachable • Servant Heart / Compassionate / Good with people • Flexible and patient – able to work in a fluid environment
